AUTOMAKERS SEEK TO PRODUCE MORE CNG LIGHT DUTY VEHICLES.
NEW ARTICLE REPORTS GENERAL MOTORS HAS SIGNED AN AGREEMENT TO PRODUCE ENGINES WITH A NATURAL GAS SPECIALIST COMPANY.
YOU CAN LEARN MORE ABOUT CNG AND HOW PROFITABLE IT IS AT OUR NATURAL GAS WORKSHOP!

In the latest demonstration that the natural gas movement is here for the long-term, the news coming out of Detroit is that General Motors has teamed with a natural gas engine specialist to develop powertrains for light-duty vehicles.

Engine maker Westport Innovations, a recognized leader in this area of expertise, already has similar agreements with equipment-maker Caterpillar and locomotive-builder Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD).

The news is actually the second natural gas engine deal between the two companies (the first being signed in June), and will focus on smaller vehicle applications in the passenger car market.

What size engine and the number of cylinders used in the new engine were not revealed. However, market watchers state that some recent CNG-powered vehicles - such as the new Ram pickup - are equipped with the ability to run on natural gas and gasoline to increase the vehicles' range between fill-up locations.

The dual-fuel set up helps alleviate range anxiety since natural gas is currently not as widely available as diesel fuel or gasoline is.

Will you help to expand CNG's footprint in New Jersey while helping your business make additional profits?  Attend our NGV Workshop to learn the benefits and advantages of natural gas!
