Update on NJGCA's Crime Research Project

Dear NJGCA Member:

You may remember that in August 2013 (following the murder of a gas station attendant in Woodbury, NJ) NJGCA was contacted by Professor Jon Shane of John Jay College in New York City about conducting a research project to investigate gas stations being the targets of crime.

Since that time, we created a survey and encouraged all members to participate. At this time, the survey is now closed, and Professor Shane and his research team are ready to begin the second phase - site visits. If you filled out the survey, let me first take a minute to thank you for your participation!  You should expect Professor Shane or a member of his team to visit your location sometime this month. Visits are expected to begin on Friday, December 5th.  The researcher will have a John Jay College ID to identify themselves.  They will simply be collecting data, taking measurements and making observations about the station and the surrounding environment. Each visit is expected to last about 20-30 minutes.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Professor Shane directly, at 973-699-6880 or jshane@jjay.cuny.edu.  We thank you again for your participation and cooperation.
