NJGCA Executive Director, Sal Risalvato, spoke with WMBC News Reporter Melissa Estock on a proposed hike in the federal excise tax on tobacco products. While no one would argue against the harmful effects of smoking, cigarettes are a legal product, sold legally by small business owners. When taxes increase on these products, smokers typically find alternative means of purchasing cigarettes, robbing government coffers of tax dollars and denying convenience store owners the opportunity to sell profitable, ancillary items to their patrons.
