Summary: Requires certain motor vehicle reinspections be conducted at licensed private inspection facilities.  Motorists would be given a free emissions inspection at the central inspection facilities, and if they failed they would be given only one additional reinspection at a CIF.  After that, they would need to go to a private facility.

NJGCA strongly believed that the elimination of safety inspections would hurt thousands of small businesses who rely on safety inspections to force motorists to have necessary repairs, as well as leave the roadways ofNew Jerseymore dangerous.  This bill was heard before the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee on June 23, 2010.  It was passed by a vote of 7-5.  Voting results below:
