Are you and your technicians properly trained and licensed for the Motor Vehicle Inspection Program? Is your shop properly licensed to repair emissions?

NJGCA has scheduled continuing training classes and testing so that NJGCA members can save $$$ on this required training.

NJGCA offers three different classes that will keep you properly certified in compliance with NJ MVC standards.

Course # 1
In order to be licensed as an Emissions Repair Technician, an applicant may complete an approved training program that provides a detailed understanding of automotive repair and emission related issues. As an alternate path, current ASE certifications in A6, A8 and L1 can be substituted for repair training, however, a state specific course must be attended to fulfill the state requirements. The NJGCA state specific course fulfills this requirement. Course curriculum includes an overview of state rules and regulations as they pertain to inspection and emission repair issues. Technicians that complete this course and have all other listed certifications will satisfy the state specifications and will be certified as Emissions Repair Technicians

Course #2
In order to be licensed as a Motor Vehicle Emission Inspector, an applicant must complete an approved training program that provides a detailed understanding of inspection related issues; the NJGCA inspector course fulfills all state requirements. Course curriculum includes an overview of state rules and regulations as they pertain to inspection and various emission repair issues. Technicians will be required to pass both a Written and Hands On exam. Technicians passing these exams will be certified and licensed as Motor Vehicle Emission Inspectors.

Course #3
In order to be licensed as an Emissions Repair Technician, an applicant can complete an approved training program that provides a detailed understanding of automotive repair and emission related issues. To maintain this license a re-certification course must be completed every five years. The NJGCA re-certification course fulfills this state requirement. Course curriculum includes an overview of state rules and regulations as they pertain to various emission repair issues. Technicians passing this exam will be certified and licensed as Emissions Repair Technicians.
