Earlier today, NJGCA and lessee dealers were SUCCESSFUL in getting A-3726 - our First Right of Refusal legislation – passed before the Assembly Transportation, Public Works, and Independent Authorities Committee!

This is a major victory in our collecitve effort to give small business lessees the opportunity to purchase their locations and prevent Big Oil from pulling the rug out from under them!

But  the dog fight is just getting started.   You have to go RIGHT BACK TO WORK or we will lose this vote in the Senate on Monday!  Today, Big Oil fought fiercly to convince Legislators to kill the proposal. You can be sure that they will redouble their efforts to stop this bill from passing on Monday in the Senate! Don't let them!!

1. CALL THE OFFICE OF SPEAKER JOE ROBERTS

Assemblyman Joe Roberts is the Speaker of the General Assembly and is responsible for selecting which bills will appear on the Assembly board list.  As A-2726 was passed in Committee today, we need YOUR help in getting this legislation posted for a floor vote on onday, March 16th!!  

Here is what you MUST say when calling Speaker Robert's office:

“Speaker Roberts, A-3726 was just passed in the Assembly Transportation, Public Works, and Independent Authorities Committee.  This important legislation will stop Big Oil from selling my business location without giving me the opportunity to buy it from them.  Please support small businesses like mine and post A-3726 for a vote on Monday, March 16th.”

2. CALL YOUR SENATOR AND TELL THEM TO SUPPORT S-2553!!

Senator Senate President Richard Codey has posted S-2553, but it still must be passed by the full Senate.  We need YOUR help in first getting this legislation passed.  Please call your State Senator and ask them to VOTE YES on S-2553!!

“Senator: I live (and/or I run a business) in your distict and ask you to support S-2553, which was unanimously passed in the Senate Commerce Committee.  This important legislation will stop Big Oil from selling my business location without giving me the opportunity to buy it from them.  Please support small businesses like mine and VOTE YES on S-2553 on Monday, March 16th.”
