Thanks to YOUR efforts, NJGCA has just learned that S-2553 – our First Right of Refusal legislation – will be posted before the full Senate for a vote on Monday, March 16th!

If eventually passed by both houses of the Legislature and signed by Governor Corzine, this bill will give small business lessees the opportunity to purchase their locations and prevent Big Oil from pulling the rug out from under them!

We know for a fact that Big Oil will have lobbyists down in the State House on Monday to try and prevent the bill from passing.  Don't give them the chance to scare off Legislators!

Success on the Senate floor now hinges on your ACTIVE participation!!

WHAT YOU MUST DO

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING & CALL!!

1. CALL YOUR SENATOR AND TELL THEM TO SUPPORT S-2553!!

Senator Senate President Richard Codey has posted S-2553, but it still must be passed by the full Senate.  We need YOUR help in first getting this legislation passed.  Please call your State Senator and ask them to VOTE YES on S-2553!!

Here is what you MUST say when calling Senator Codey’s office:

“Senator: I live (and/or I run a business) in your distict and ask you to support S-2553, which was unanimously passed in the Senate Commerce Committee.  This important legislation will stop Big Oil from selling my business location without giving me the opportunity to buy it from them.  Please support small businesses like mine and VOTE YES on S-2553 on Monday, March 16th.”

2. CALL THE OFFICE OF SPEAKER JOE ROBERTS

Assemblyman Joe Roberts is the Speaker of the General Assembly.  Just as in the case of Senate President Codey, Speaker Roberts is responsible for selecting which bills will appear on the Assembly board list.  We have supporters in the Assembly who want to see First Right of Refusal passed.  But we need YOUR help in first getting this legislation posted for a floor vote on March 16th!!

Here is what you MUST say when calling Speaker Robert's office:

“Speaker Roberts, A-3726 is important legislation that will stop Big Oil from selling my business location without giving me the opportunity to buy it from them.  Please support small businesses like mine and send A-3726 to the Assembly floor for a vote on March 16th.”
